Frequently Asked Questions

What is the investment?

Individual therapy sessions are $165 for 50 minutes. (All available sliding scale slots are currently full.)

I accept exact cash, debit/credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.

Good Faith Estimate Notice: Under California law, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” for your medical care costs. Providers must give uninsured or self-paying patients an estimate for medical services. You can request a Good Faith Estimate from your provider before scheduling. If your bill exceeds the estimate by at least $400, you can dispute it. Keep a copy of your estimate for reference. For more information, visit the following California website: No Surprise Act.

Do you take insurance?

No, I don't accept insurance as a form of payment. Fully Seen Therapy operates as an "out-of-network" provider.

Insurance companies often require a diagnosis after the first session, influencing treatment decisions moving forward. I prioritize collaborative therapy without external pressures. Furthermore, when working with insurance companies, everyone handling your claim can access your treatment file, records, and diagnosis, thus waiving client confidentiality.

I can provide a monthly superbill for PPO plans for potential reimbursement. However, coverage for part or all of the session total isn't guaranteed. I strongly encourage you to check with your provider about mental health benefits, out-of-network coverage, deductible status, session limits, coverage amounts, and referral requirements. You can contact your insurance company by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Reimbusify makes it easy to submit your claims and helps with denial. Learn more by visiting the following link: Reimbursify's website.

If you plan to pay for sessions with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) debit card, please know that I also require a valid credit card on file as a backup form of payment upon starting treatment.

What is the cancellation policy?

Fully Seen Therapy has a 48-hour cancellation policy.

Since scheduling an appointment involves reserving a time slot specifically for you, cancellations made within 48 hours of your appointment will result in a charge of half your session fee. If you cancel after 8:00 AM on your appointment day or don't show up within 15 minutes of your session time, you'll be charged the full session fee.

For in-person clients who may be canceling an appointment due to sickness, transportation issues, childcare issues, etc., you can switch your appointment to telehealth at any time to avoid a cancellation charge.

If two cancellations/reschedules or no-shows are ever made within a 60-day time period, I will no longer reserve a specific time slot for you. Future appointments will become first-come-first-served and can be scheduled via the online calendar on my website as availability allows.

If you cancel or no-show an appointment and don't reschedule within 72 hours, I may release your time slot to a client on the waiting list. You're welcome to resume therapy when you're ready to do so, as availability permits.

Where is your office located?

Fully Seen Therapy is located in the "West Roseville Counseling Offices" off Blue Oaks Blvd in Roseville, CA.

This therapy practice primarily offers in-person sessions to clients living in Northern California in Loomis, Penryn, Auburn, Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Citrus Heights, Sacramento, Antelope, Folsom, and Granite Bay.

Telehealth sessions are available to clients residing anywhere in the state of California.

How long are sessions?

An individual therapy session is 50 minutes long.

Longer sessions are available, as scheduling permits, upon request and at your prorated session fee.

What are your business hours, and how does scheduling work?

My business hours are generally set to 11:00 AM—7:00 PM Sunday through Wednesday. I am out of the office on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sessions are available during these times, and appointments are required. Walk-in and crisis services are not available.

Sessions are scheduled weekly or bi-weekly on a consistent day and time until you reach your initial therapy goals. Generally, sessions are not scheduled more than two weeks out in advance. Once you decide you are ready to reduce the frequency of sessions (to every three weeks or monthly), sessions will move to an "as-needed" basis. You can reach out via email, text, or book a session through my online calendar when you want a check-in session.

Research consistently demonstrates that therapy yields the most significant benefits when integrated into a client's routine on either a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Due to ethical considerations, this practice is unable to accept new clients who cannot attend weekly or bi-weekly sessions at the onset of treatment.

Is what we talk about in sessions confidential?

I prioritize your privacy and will not disclose your personal information without your consent except when mandated by law. If necessary, I will share only the minimum required information.

Exceptions to confidentiality include:

  1. You provide written consent to share information with another individual or agency.
  2. A court orders the release of specific information.
  3. Your mental health is relevant in a civil or criminal proceeding.
  4. You present an immediate danger to yourself, prompting a 5150 evaluation and contacting emergency personnel.
  5. You're severely incapacitated, leading to a 5150 evaluation and contacting emergency personnel.
  6. You commit a crime against me, your therapist, resulting in notification to law enforcement and possible charges.
  7. You pose a threat to someone else, necessitating notification to law enforcement and any identifiable victims.
  8. Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult requires reporting to the respective protective agency.

Furthermore, various state and federal laws define rare situations where confidentiality may be compromised. California, for example, has over 20 such situations detailed in state law. You can learn more about these exceptions by visiting the following link: Exceptions to Client Confidentiality.

How long does it take for therapy to work?

I understand how daunting it can feel to take the first step towards prioritizing your mental health. Please know that I genuinely want you to find healing, no matter what you're facing. Additionally, I realize how overwhelming it can be to start therapy, especially when dealing with complex and long-standing issues. Unfortunately, there's no quick fix for issues that have developed and compounded over time. Just as problems often worsen with time, healing also takes time.

While I hope our work together will be beneficial, the duration and extent of treatment vary for each client. As a result, I can't predict how long therapy will last or guarantee specific outcomes. The length of treatment depends on factors such as your goals for therapy, the complexity and duration of your issues, and your level of engagement in the therapy process.

Many of my clients engage in longer-term therapy to address deeper concerns, revisit and process core traumas, and navigate complex issues together. Ultimately, you'll decide when you've met your initial therapy goals and when you're ready to space out sessions or graduate from treatment.

What are the risk and benefits of therapy?

I strive to assist you in achieving your therapy goals by offering tailored recommendations based on the information you provide and your specific situation. Success in therapy hinges on your active participation, commitment to change, and the therapeutic relationship we establish.

Risks: Participating in therapy can evoke emotional discomfort as we delve into challenging topics. Some days, you may leave feeling better, while other days, you might temporarily feel worse due to the intensity of our discussions. Therapy may also bring unexpected changes, such as shifts in relationships, and you may experience an increase in negative symptoms and memories. Despite the temporary discomfort, this process is essential for healing. Furthermore, specific therapeutic outcomes cannot be guaranteed, and there's a risk that therapy may not improve your life.

Benefits: Therapy offers numerous benefits. It can clarify your self-understanding and values and offer fresh perspectives on complex issues. Additionally, therapy promotes healing from trauma, enhances communication skills, and improves emotional regulation. It equips you with coping strategies, increases emotional stability, and fosters a sense of inner peace. Body-based approaches like EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing can deepen and sustain healing by addressing root issues and core traumas.

Regarding telehealth therapy, specific risks and limitations exist, which I will thoroughly discuss with you as part of your informed consent before beginning treatment.

What can I expect in our first session?

In our first session, you'll have the chance to share what brings you to therapy, and I'll explore how best to support you moving forward. I'll gather information about your family/relationship history and the issues you're struggling with. We'll also discuss your treatment goals, and if needed, I'll provide immediate symptom-relief techniques.

Furthermore, the first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and assess if we're a good fit. Finding a therapist who fits your personality is important, as not everyone "clicks" with everyone. If, after our first session, you don't feel like I'm a good fit for you, that's okay. You're under no obligation to continue seeing me. Just let me know if you'd like to try a different therapist, and I'll happily provide referrals to other therapists in the area.
